SPOTLIGHT ON RIGHT TO PLAY IN ZAMBIA

Right To Play Zambia SportHealth Project

Right To Play Zambia SportHealth project promotes the healthy development of communities through a coach-based approach that increases dynamic local leadership, encourages local organizational collaboration, and involves individuals in the decision-making process.

Working with Local Coaches, Right To Play has been mobilizing communities around key health issues, like HIV/AIDS prevention, Malaria, and TB, in a fun and social way through sport and play.  Such programming supports national health campaigns and Zambia’s national health objectives.

Since the project’s inception in 2002, Right To Play has successfully trained Local Coaches to organize and lead Right To Play-based sport and play activities in the greater Lusaka area. Right To Play now has a team of 60 dedicated Local Coaches who reach approximately 6,000 children and youth with regular programming.
